A dental implant is nothing but a screw that is placed into the jaw bone and this screw acts as an anchor to a false tooth or set of teeth

We in our surgery prefer to do a two stage implants, where in the dental prosthesis which is supported by the implant is done in 4-6 months time after an implant is placed

• However in certain esthetic zones a single stage implant is advisable
• The actual implant procedure is done under local anesthesia  and is generally not very painful. Varying degree of pain & discomfort is common after the anesthetic affect and may last for around 6-10 days

     Do Implants Fail?

• Occasionally dental implants do fail or as some people say, they are rejected . Usually they can be replaced with another implant of slightly larger size. Failure rate is as low as 1-2 %.and  largely depends upon the patient habits after implant placement.

• One has to be on a soft diet, should avoid chewing in the area of the implant and of course should not smoke cigarettes, or consume any other tobacco related products
